I know it was made fresh, but with all the good starters (hush puppies, salad, cole slaw) I was almost full before my food arrived. Free ice cream is always good. The atmosphere was laid back. The service is always excellent and the prices can't be beat. You'd pay much more for this kind of food at other restaurants. We drive from Clear Lake, passing many more popular seafood restaurants... but The Reef is worth the drive!"

By A Yahoo! Contributer, "Kids eat free! This was a big selling point. I got the blackened catfish with Ponchatrain sauce. It was great. Very tender. The rice was fantastic. We had an enjoyable meal, attentive staff, relaxed atmosphere. Kids enjoyed the fish tanks so we were able to eat a hot meal, and have ice cream for dessert. I wish it was closer to where we live but worth the drive.

The batter is so thin you can see the pink of the shrimp. The frog legs are tender and tasty. The fried oysters never miss the mark for freshness and flavor. I always include a portion of fried red snapper. It is consistently cooked to just the perfect texture. The only item not to my liking in their red-sauce. It has too much relish and not enough horse-raddish to catsup ratio. This can be overcome by utilizing the fantastic tarter sauce. Save room the the pickled green tomatoes."

They have a mixture of shrimp (fried, boiled and grilled), shrimp stuffed jalapenos, buffalo chicken wings, fried fish, hush puppies and dirty rice. We add on french fries and onion rings and the whole thing feeds about 8-10 people. Many of our employees like the platter because they probably feel like they are a fish fry rather than at work (well minus the beer and redneck music)!"

"My husband went for a job interview at Texas City, we wanted to eat somewhere special while we was in TC. When we got to The Reef Seafood House we expected it to much more expensive than it was. The food was the best we have had in a long time. The serving size was so large that we ate the left overs for supper. If you are ever in Texas City area diffently try out this place."

The atmosphere upon entering this establishment set the stage for an extremely enjoyable experience. I found the service to be just fine--not intrusive, but just an occasional check to see if we needed anything; and the entire staff was professional and personable. Execellent value for the generous sized portions. The "Reef" was actually recommended before I arrived in the Galveston area by a tourism professional based in Galveston. The only 'down-side' was that most conversation stopped when we received our orders...too busy enjoying the food to talk. We went twice during my last short trip to the area and I almost extended my stay so I could go again. I only wish there was a practical way of fed-ex'ing some of the food on their menu up here.

"I have been going to this restaurant for many, many years. the newer place is bigger and nicer along with all the bells and whistles (like a full bar and great big fish tank). The all-you-can eat is a must. You can chose three items and have all you want of those three things. The prices are reasonable, DELICIOUS!!! They do have a lunch menu for those of you who want to get a taste of their menu for a cheaper price. It does get crowded on the weekends at night. I highly recommend this restaurant because I love the food, and only rated it a four because often times, the service is slow or leaves a little to be desired."
